Evinrude 150 ETEC reliability?
Have a friend looking at buying an ETEC 150 for commercial purposes. What has been the overall reliability and owners impression of this motor? Pro's? Con's?
Thanks in advance.....

The 150 e-tec is the most reliable. No break in period is nice...Go for it ...Tight Lines...

They are certainly better than they used to be - any engine can give issues and the earlier versions of these where no good but they seem to be pretty good now.

He's looking at a new 2007 model. Is there any difference between the '07, 08, 09, & '10?

Well every year there are many small changes... prob one of the main ones was in 08, new design fuel injectors and changes to the way they metered the fuel, this resulted in higher fuel pressure out of the injector over the older design and more precise metering of fuel mostly at lower revs
the biggest changes where made to the inline models and the 90' V6

I have an '09 150HO and love it. the later engines come with the i-command system too which i love! the engines have great low down grunt.

I have an '09 175 and absolutely love the motor. I haven't had a lick of trouble....it gets much better fuel economy than my '01 Merc XR6.....is much easier starting and doesn't smoke. I realize they had some changes to the injectors and ignition system....but I'm a thoroughly satisfied customer.
Good Luck,
Wayne

I have an '08 (for sale by the way). PHENOMENAL motor! I can't think of anything to improve it for what it is.

On to the next project....

Doesn't the 2010 model have some sort of exhaust mod from the factory?
