Attempted trying out a 3 blade 25p tempest that came with the boat before when it had a 25” shaft and it’s a dog out of the hole and spins it to 6+K RPMs

Hey Mike whats up? My 28 Promax with 1.75s hits the limiter hard at 6800 and thats at 90mph. The #s are so far off it may be both wet and tired. Sorry for such depressing input. My son ran a 30 promax on a 1.62 last weekend on Greenwood lake and got 97.1. Not sure of his RPM. Something is way off here.

I'll definitely look into checking for moisture but I also see many of you in the higher mph range are running a good amount of setback. I only have 5.5 with the CMC jackplate the motor currently sits on. Would additional setback make the big of a difference?

I have 5" of setback and so does Ben. Too much setback takes away from the rough water handling. 5 1/2 is fine.

Which I’m definitely happy with. I love the rough water handling of this boat. 67 in a 2 foot chop is great in my book in this small of a boat.

That's a nice boat. Wish I still had mine!

    Congrats.

Hi guys- putting a 250XS on my 1985 22' velocity. Bought a 5.5" jack plate as well. Quick question- what is everyone running for props? Also, should I put a nose cone on it? Torque Master gear case. Thanks

1985 All original? If the transom is good, go with 12" setback if you dont plan on flying in the rough.
    I have a 1987 Regal "Velocity". 250efi 5.5" setback and have run choppers, Trophy's and a Solas 4 blade.
The chopper was the fastest 76mph, trophy and Solas handled better but topped out around 72.
    - Propshaft height even to 1" ABOVE the pad.
I have a Torque master with 1.62 gears so all my props are low pitch but you dont really need a nose cone unless your faster than 85ish. There's lots of other threads if you search a bit on that topic
If your lower has the 4 holes all the way on the nose of the case your good, just plug the top 6/8 on either side of the case using a 1/4" by 1/4" long set screw from homedepot.
Make sure you have a water pressure gauge and temp gauge.

Personally I don't like that much setback. The handling suffers in rough water. Your 5.5 will work just fine and also a 24 ProMax may be a good place to start. They work great on Velocitys

Just put the motor on the bracket. My hynautic steering ram is on the front and very close to the transom well. I won't be able to trim much. Any ideas? Right now im at 2.5" below the pad. Should I go up?

More then likely yes, but can you post a picture of the cylinder and jack from the front.
