LOTS of prop talk here lately, which brings up MY biggest prop question. I've heard, and read, that one of the best thru-hub props for middle weight boats are (were?) the Mach brand of props. I heard they stopped making them after a buy-out and some mis-management? Anyone know where they can be found? Are they still being made? Local Checkmate dealer tries to find good Mach props to put on the Checkmate Pulsare hulls they sell, but usually ends up installing the Tempest Plus 25". The Mach prop is supposed to be an excellent thru-hub top end prop.

    JW,

Mach Props were made by Gary Garbrech (SP) from the Second Effort fame. I beleive OMC bought them out in the early 90's. Gary used to race for Team Mercury way back when. Second Effort used to do alot of hopped V8 OMC race enginesfor offshore and F1. I don't beleive anyone is making a knock-off.

Call Mike at Cmate, they used to stock alot of MAch props. He might have one hanging around.

    OMC??

I hadn't heard that OMC had made them! That must answer the 'bought out and mis-managed' quote I got from our buddy Ryan. He said the Mach was the best prop for the Pulsare, but they usually use a 25" Tempest plus. Have you compared the Tempest Plus to the one you currently like?? Hey, did you visit them when you were in Muskegon? ??

i have an early 80's 75 hp short shaft evinrude.
i am wondering what the best "go fast prop" would be for the boat. the total wieghr of me in the boat and with the motor is probably only 700lbs. i am not clear on the pich but ill get back on that.

    Thanks

    PETE

    I also heard that....

Reggie had bought them. I'm suprised nobody here has heard what the story is on the props. Maybe I should have asked on the offshore forum instead. From what I've seen, they were for a little heavier boat than what's run here.
