I'm sure this has been asked before

I am needing to glass in some wood on the floor of the boat for some new interior. I have never really worked with fiberglass and need some help starting out.
    1. How can you tell what type of glass is already there? The boat is an 86 Marlin Aries 20.
    2. What type of materials are needed to get the new glass to stick to the old?
    3. Marine plywood the only choice?
    4. HELP!!!!!!

First off, have to determine resin type. If not sure about type. Epoxy always works. Grind or sand the existing surface with some 40 grit and put some thickened resin under the wood. Add cab-o-sil for thicker resin. So the resin won't run out. Marine ply is best if possible. Let that harden and glass over with come cloth type glass, 10 oz. would be good. Round the edges of the wood block to make glassing easier. If you end up using poly resin, substitute some matt type fiberglass for the cloth.. Poly resin is the most common resin, some custom hi-po boats were epoxy. Ask questions as you need too, lot's of help here. Have fun with the new interior..
