    What Donzi 16 is this???

Went to look at a used Sweet 16 Donzi OB today and sitting right next to it was this. It's 16-ft, identical hull but, I've never seen a 16' Donzi OB or I/O with a open cockpit like this.
Did Donzi ever make one like this? Felt and looked for the serial number on the transom with no luck. At first I thought maybe someone chopped the deck but it all looks molded/original.

    donzi

Did Donzi actually build any outboards from the factory in the 16-21 range?

I've only seen I/Os and people who put brackets on them after the motor and I/O was spent.

    I

Owned an outboard model sweet 16 straight from the factory. Put a transom in it and rebuilt the 125 on it went about 58 I think. Round keel made it a soft runner and kind of boring ride wise but nice boat over all. They ran like 100 of them in the early 70s then ten more in the early 80s for promo stuff. I think one was done for pepsi or a soft drink company?

There were 190 16 Baby OB's made mostly in 1971 - 1976. The in the 1990's 4 Promo boats were made with a slightly different deck.

Hell yeah! What ever you want to call it it's a F-ing tragedy! Someone please save that poor boat from a fate worse than death.

I am Bobby Garr's sister and that was actually MY Donzi although Bobby dominated it and used it way more than I did. Today, August 15th would have been his 58th birthday...RIP Bobby, I miss you.
