What do you want in a V drive

What does everyone here want in a V drive?

I am looking for features, pricing, specs, etc for a V drive transmission.

Who's got what and what is wrong with it?

    Please all comments appreciated.

I'd've thought it'd be the same as any other boat... hot, socially liberal girls

I've got a comment for you,

How about re-writing the whole thing so it makes sense.

    Ok, Unchained.

Your V drive engages with a thunk, is that ok?

There is not a PTO on your transmission, do you want one?

You have to send your transmission back if you want trolling, is that ok or would you rather install it yourself?

I am asking what features do you want your transmission to have to aid in your enjoyment of our hobby.

Sleekcrafter: Would a "stall converter" help?

I guess you are questioning about an auto trans for a vdrive.

I have a TH400 that was built by Art Carr in Tx.
They have a reverse shift pattern and no park.
I use all three speeds every day. It has worked great.
You don't use a torque converter. Get a direct drive coupler.

Just leave the Casale gearbox in forward, With a trans there is no reason to use the in/out shifter.

    PTO on the transmission
I thought that was how they hooked a hydraulic pump to a dump truck trans.

Auto trans? Now your confusing me!

Your transmission, gear, mysterious box behind the engine that changes the direction of the crankshaft output to some mystical angle that causes the spinning bar to turn the fan looking thingy, is in all boats, (with the exception of a few race boats that use a direct drive.) This is what allows the boat to go from forward to neutral to reverse.

Cone clutch units, like Hurth, "thunk" when you engage them. Does everyone who has a transmission that thunks think this is acceptable or just tolerate it.

PTO is what runs stuff on dump trucks, tractors, work boats, anything that needs power. Anybody have a use for it in their pleasure boat? (A PTO is handy on jet that also need a gear reduction and have a water bucket operated by flow. Nice place to put the pump)

Marine transmissions don't need torque converters but something that would act like a stall converter would allow the engine to rev a little before fully engaging. Nice for people who want a higher revving small block vs a big block. Helps with the whole shot.

I hope this clarifies a little more.

I'm guessing Flight Service is talking about a Ski-Boat Style Vdrive Setup here once he mentioned Hurth.

Do you still have this boat? I just bought one and haven't found any others through all my searching
