    Question Differences Between Merc ECUs???

    What are the differences between different models of Merc ECUs? I would like to know specific data about specific models, especially the A6.

    What are the differences between the A6, A8, A10, A48, etc. What are their rev limits? What applications should each be run in?

    Is there a web page for this info? I searched past posts but I think that all of the old posts were lost recently. Thanks for the education!

    I guess what I'm tring to ask is... what are the characters of each model? What makes each one diffrent thin another specifically?

    OK The 11350 was the original. it came out as a analog then changed over to digital. The 11350 had removable Chips. The chips program determines the fuel curve (Fuel Pressure) As well as the rev limit. SEE CHART for a complete breakdown on that information. Mercury discovered that some Computer Gurus could reprogram the chips and achieve better performance especially in the Race world. This made mercury mad so they came out with the 849849 Digital box. The chips worked basically the same fuel curve (Fuel Pressure) And rev limits varied for each chip. But the box was completely potted and the chip couldnt be removed for reprogramming. So mercury thought at the time. But even that soon changed. Both the 11350 and 949849 ECU's were for side block injected engines and could have the fuel percentage adjusted up or down by the use of a DDT.. The 824003 ECU's are for the laser injected motors. They are basically sealed and cant be adjusted like the 11350 or 849849 ECU's. But that also didnt take long for someone to figure out. Thats about it in a nut shell.

    Just posting this for the archives.

    I just had Brucato test my "6" ecu and it went to 8500-9000rpm... NOT "A6" .. just plain Promax 225 6 ecu

    Not a big deal but you have a 824003 box which was also considered an A6.
    -6, A6 225 Pro Max / 1995
    The 849849 box is the other A6 different map.

    Again as it has been stated before it was anyone's guess what certain boxes especially the first (1995 boxes) had for mapping.
    I suspect that someone bumped/removed the limiter from your box which were being done by some like Sean (Rapair) etc.
    Doubt much it came that way from Mercury but who really knows if someone was playing.
