Quick ?, correct oil for 300x
I have new to me 2003 300x. Is the Mercury Optimax/DFI synthetic blend the correct oil?

I run the Penzoil Full Synthetic in my 300X Mercs w/ no problems.

I don't think that will hurt it but that oil was really designed for the DFI engines. I'd run pennz 100% or merc racing or similar going forward.

deffinetly premium plus in 300x the dfi oil is not for higher horsepower even the dfi 225 250 etc recommend premium plus

No way i would run that chit in my motor even mercury doesn;t recomend it in the motors lots of my fishing buddys used to run it in there opti;s and where blowing powerheads left and right went to premium plus no more problems the dfi oil is thin as water and doesn;t have very good adhesion to motor parts go with pre plus or a synthetic blend oil or even a full synthetic now that it is broke in well.amsoil is my recommendation or klotze is good as well. being a steel bore you should run the pennzoil synthetic blend, and definetely not the dfi oil
