    Yes ago I salvaged a very early one fro
    Fla and believe it was an ‘85 and think I remember it being first yr.

    Caught my attention as that was a yr earlier than introduction of the V-6 looper ‘86.

    Also remember it having a non gear reduction starter compared to the reduction starters on everything else.
    Was huge! Looked a Ford truck starter.

    The Evinrude/Johnson V8 3.6 liter looper was released to dealers in the late spring of 1985. At the same time as the 1.8 liter V4 looper. (Half a V8)
    Yes, you are correct the V6 2.7 liter looper was released to dealers 1986. First powerhead built in Calhoun, Georgia.

    This was an ‘87 2.7 liter that Al Stoker bored to 3.0 liter specs for me and I ported.

    Ran 101 GPS @ 7500 on a 17’ Hydrostream and was a beast.
