    Best crossflow color scheme

I have a freshly rebuilt v-4 crossflow for the viper and needs total paint. Curious what year johnson/evinrude color schemes look the best? The old gold, silver, white, gray? Which ones? Post some pics if you have any ideas. I dont want the paint to look modified but either totally stock, or factory modded.

    easy

look at the "Allison sister ships"thread in the Outboard and Racing History forum. Either one of those look awesome and would go well with different color boats. I've always thought the white and blue strangler looked way ahead of its time.

I allways liked the GT models with the dark silver/grey color schemes. How about the stinger colors? Orange black and white. I know it came on the 75hp motors. All the coolest mullet skiff's around pine island had one on it...

    colors

I guess it all depends on the boat color. The 76 model Evinrudes had the Sizzler paint schemes blue and white with the red pins. Also the Gt Johnson had the white and black or the newer models had the charcoal gray and black with red pins. The orangs and black stingers looked good back in day. You could also go with the new decal package. Like I said just depends on boat color and wether you want to stay year correct or do a update. Just my .02. Peace.

    Yeah

Forgot to mention exactly what i have, but its a 84 viper with the multi color browns. Boat is a clean original and i want it to look pretty stock. I thought about using the 85 hp cowl and colors as a kind of sleeper looking motor.

Anybody got any pictures of the old school looking cowls (1970's and early 80's cowls)?

There are two whites as well Ronny, don't know the year ranges but circa 84 is a bright white, while later models (89?) is a little creamier. That's the colour I chose.

Their should be a pic in my Profile of my 1982 Johnson 140 V4, or go to Liquidnirvanas profile and he has EVERY Evinrude/Johnson pic imaginable. Brannon
