    Jacos and de-tuned 225 promax

Guys: I need some help from you outboard gurus. Jacos has a rebuilt 1998 promax listed for sale. I spoke with them and was told that it was rebuilt with 200 pro max pistons (?) to reduce the compression and therefore make the engine capable of running on 87 octane. The compression numbers were all around 120. Using regular gas sounds good to me, but am I missing something? Thanks in advance for you help. John.

I wasn't aware that the 200 and ProMax had different pistons, but I could be wrong.. If You want some extra power You can have the head milled down to give You about 140 lbs. compression... I find it strange that they would opt for a different piston in an already low compression engine... You'll surely get a more informative response on here today...

Sounds like they bored it and put 2mm ring pistons in it in stead of trackin' down oversize 1.5 ring pistons. Production pistons don't really have anything ta do with comp. unless they are wore out along with tha rings.............JMO
