My Garmin 478 has two NMEA 0183 data ouput wires (blue and purple), so I'm going to connect one of the output wire to the S terminal on the back of my Livorsi gauge...that would save me some cash. I'll also have to remember to set the baud rate to 4800 and the antenna to 0183.

I connected my Livorsi speedometer to my Garmin 478, set the baud rate to 4800 and it worked!

I took my first run of the season today and have the same problem. Does anyone have any photos to help visualize the issue? I unscrewed my white cap on the puck, but need to look a lot closer. Annoying as the water was flat !!

Instructions say NOTE The orange (assessory on) wire is used when wiring the GPS 17x to a Garmin Chartplotter, or other NMEA 0183 devise that has a defined accessory signal wire. If you are wiring the GPS 17x to a device that does not have a accessory signal wire, the orange wire from the GPS17x should be connected to GROUND.
This is on page 5 of the instructions. Hope this helps. Mine did not work until I did this. Black and orange to groundLast edited by moomba; 05-04-2010 at 06:56 PM. Reason: text

Mine came the other day but I haven't had time to install. Compared to this, the Lavorsi antenna should cost about $25

I agree, with three mounting options too!Livorsi uses Garmin so they must charge the middleman's profits!!
