I was wondering why my Lavorsi GPS speedo was not wroking, the compass, and speed do not register, but volts and rpm do...... Do you think its a friggin battery issue or wire got loose?
What where your symptoms of yours going bad ? ?
Was / is not Lavorsi a vendor on here?

Well that's kinda jacked up ain't it ??? I had no idea of the battery in the antenna, I do not remember seeing anything about the battery in the information I recieved with the unit, when I dumped a buttload of money on all new Lavorsi guages, bezels, recalls, tach and Speedo.......
Ya'll remember when a bunch of us here and elsewhere backed Mike with the Gaffrig deal ? ?
Does Gaffrig offer a repair sevice for these units?
this sucks.

Russ this is what I was told when I called.
I have 3 Livorsi GPS antennas with dead batterys. I replaced batteries and they still don't work. I called Livorsi and they said they are no longer replacing batteries and re programing. They will give $30.00 toward a exchange. So it would only cost $169.00 exchange plus shipping. They recommended buying there new one without batteries for $269.00 exchange.
This is why I did some searching.

I had the same problem. They seem to die after about 4 years. Lavorsi told me the same thing last year, they had to do it because it was a special battery bla bla bla $75 and I would have to un fish all the wiring because I mounted it back by the stern light socket in the STV What a bunch of crap. I too don't remember seeing anything about a battery in the info that came with the gps. $300 is way overpriced anyway. In precision ag we call them a hockey puck receiver they are not accurate enough for yield monitoring or anything. I like your find!!!!! Way to go

I ordered one too. I'll have to reread your wiring instructions
Thanks

i put one on my bullet and it works great. be sure to read "exceptions" at the end of the wiring instructions. i did the third time!!! and now it works !!
mike livorsi answered the phone and was very nice and helpful. my antenna was less than 2 years old when it quit working. all i got was the same $169 exchange or $269 w/o a battery. i bought a case from moomba and he's a straight-up guy. i took his word on the garmin antenna and saved a bunch of money thanks to moomba. thanks to this site and members like him we can all have a place to go to look for an alternative solution from reputable people. Unfortunately, I have my Lavorsi antenna mounted on the boat in such a place that a larger antenna will not work, and I already have a hole drilled ...............Looks like I will have to pay the piper .... that's depressing.
On the site you provided, there is a smaller Black Puck offered for 94 bucks.
