GPS Antenna ONLY $104.95
I have 3 Livorsi GPS antennas with dead batterys. I replaced batteries and they still don't work. I called Livorsi and they said they are no longer replacing batteries and re programing. They will give $30.00 toward a exchange. So it would only cost $169.00 exchange plus shipping. They recommended buying there new one without batteries for $269.00 exchange.
I found a Garmin antenna for $104.95 and it works great. Its larger but can be mounted under the deck. It can mount flush or on a pole. It needs a 1/2" hole if mounting through deck. It has a nice plug that plugs into the antenna and 30' of cable. Here is the link. http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-oem-17...nmea-0183.html There are some extra wirers you don't use. Red to Ign power, black and orange to ground and gray to pickup. It takes about 30 seconds to find signal when turning on ign. There may also be some less expensive ones out there. Hope this helps.Last edited by moomba; 06-24-2010 at 08:14 PM.

Livorsi GPS antennas , so if the batteries go dead you can't just replace the battery? Why not just design them so it's powered from the boat battery when the key is on? Dumb design!

If the battery has been dead to long I guess it looses its program. Last year you could send back and have battery changed and re programed for $75.00. Now they give you $30. trade in towards a re furbished one and it cost $169. exchange. The idea with the battery in the unit is when you start the boat the antenna doesn't have to find the signal from a satellite. With the Garmin it will take 30-60 seconds to pick up the signal. I think I can wait the extra minute. My Personal Boats

I hooked it up to a Gaffrig and two Livorsi speedometers last night I could only run up to 4 MPH in the garage with the antenna in my hand but all 3 read the same on the recall. As long as the antenna is NMEA 0183 Compliant it will work fine. I bought some Lovorsi Smart Craft gauges for another boat I had and refused to buy a Livorsi antenna for over $200. with 2 dead ones on the work bench. I found a no name brand on Ebay and it worked fine for around $100.
I sold one GPS Speedometer today and I just ordered another antenna for my Spare that's looking for a boat to go in. I have a 11" tunnel with a 60HP going on it not sure how it will look with a 120MPH speedo. I hope to see 65 on the recall.Last edited by moomba; 02-25-2010 at 10:25 PM. Reason: text

Thanks for the link. I was not ready to take the plunge on getting a GPS speedo just yet just because of the antenna price but this has just changed my mind.
