go to your local pool store and pick their brains on how they do it/its done.. i know there are some really nifty fiberoptic stuff available, but pricey, the regular pool light stuff shouldnt be too much, tho you never know

Im an electrician by trade and I think this idea is not a good one. To my knowledge there is not a light that is UL listed to serve both under water and salt water locations. If there were it would be a lot more than $30. If something is not ul listed (which it couldnt be if you made it) then you would have absolutly no leg to stand on in court if someone gets hurt or killed. NOt trying to be a dick but just because something lights up doesnt mean its right or safe.

I dont see it as much of a problem...LEDs or low voltage landscape lighting in a waterproof housing...I think the LED rope lighting would be your best bet though.

inground pool lights are sealed on the pool side with a gasket from the ring around the glass to the liner. cost of $300 to $600 and are ok in salt water .<O</O
As some may know salt water pools are getting very popular .<O</O
All new inground pool light housings are made of plastic and last along time !<O</O
As for fiber optic lighting work great but big $$$$$$<O</O
    <O</O

The LED lighting 12 Volt can be made at a low cost
    <O</O
Pond light can be used too, 12 Volt 20 to 50 Watt Halogen Submersible pond Lights will work great at a low cost kits for $100.00 to $200.00

I have a low cost idea?? Anyone live next door to a forcloser home with a pool?? Phillip screwdriver and a pair of dikes will remove the pool light! Cut the wire at the switch and pull it through the conduit!
