The LS1 books by Will Handzel (here http://www.amazon.com/How-Build-High...ef=cm_cmu_pg_t )are also a good choice.

The cool part about using EFI on these engines is that the sensors are already there. Reluctor wheel behind the balancer, cam angle, knock sensors on the block, MAP take-off on the inlet manifold and throttle position sensor on the throttle body. And it's all the right gear too, no mixing and matching. We use alot of Delphi ECU's here, just re-flash them with the appropriate fuel and ignition maps. The guys that do ours runs the motors up on a dyno (or couples to a waterjet, same thing) with an O2 sensor and pyrometer to set parameters. Remember, because you will unlikely be running an O2 sensor that you'll have to run an open loop program. Also, unlike your car, the motor is always under load, so a little extra fuel is added and advance removed where required

If the LQ4 and LQ9 are exactly the same, why would they have different model numbers?

if you are reading the LS1 book you won't learn ****, it is highly fantastic in ideals... 99% of it is just crap... go to ls1tech.com or performancetrucks.net and get some real good usable info

1bad makes a great point about the tuning also, I tune with HPTUNERS which will work in your situation, however... tuning would be much different in technique used...

Why? Then you'll need a MAF sensor, why not just stick with the MAP. I'll also make things easier when forcing your induction

i must have read that wrong i thought that they did it with a MAP and IAT sensor to figure the air mass entering the engine

speed density does NOT utilize a MAF sensor... it focuses on the MAP sensor...

Why not use a ls7 out of a Z06, 470ftlbs 505hp, 7000rpm and you can buy a stand alone ecu from GM.. This would be a cool motor and plug and play.

well the price of a LS7 is realy high in price and a LQ9 with a set of L92 heads and a cam change will put you right around 500 and it is much cheaper but you weigh 88 pounds more.
