1991 was the year for the 7 petal reed fishing 200 2.5L.. They are hard to find these days and make great motors.. A little chest cleaning and some 145psi heads and add a 255ProMax ECU and you have a 225PM in sheeps clothing..

I have a 1991 200 it has 7 petal reeds and exhaust relief in the ports. Sounds like you have a 1991 200 to me.

The 91 200 did have the 7 petal front and was made for one year only. Does yours have the water cooled regulator?

sounds like a 91, for an all out engine i wouldn't waste money on that block w/ the exhaust reliefs, find a newer block and use all your other parts on it, be careful to, some of the early 2.5/200's were bottom guided and had different rods and pistons

My XRI didnot have reliefs in tha sleeves, but tha carb motas did(at leest the one I had did)...
People holler about how tha reliefs mota's are junk, but IMO thats BS...Yea, that lil slot will take away a lil compression(and I meen LIL) but I have built relief motas that run juss az good az a non relief mota!!....Unless U are race'in tha mota, and are try'in to git 110% out ov it, thoze slots actually make tha mota a lil more user frenly, and a better idler...JMO

thanks
thanks for the feed back.it is a bottom guided motor.it just needs a piston, the cylinders look good i just didnt want to end up with a rebuilt 150 or 175.i feel confident its a 200.ill pick up a little compression with some head work.any other performance tips would be greatly appreciated

A 91 was a bottom guided engine. There are plenty of performance tips...Just depends on how far you want to go. You could port to a 245 and add 245 carbs and make it a 245 carb engine. It will have idle reliefs and is not that big of a deal. You have a PM....
