Need a little help with gearhousing.....
Here's the scene. Bought new gearcase from a dealer liquidating. It already had the lower driveshaft roller bearing in it, but it was the wrong one for my shaft. Using the SPECIAL MERCURY TOOL I tried to press the bearing out. The entire bottom of the outer race bustted out and the bearings fell in the housing. Problem! How can I get the outer race out? I tried a little heat, but nothing to get a grip on inside the housing to knock th race out. Anybody got a suggestion? I got a new housing and can't use it.
Thanks,
DaveHave you ever stopped to think............and forget to start again?

This is a test
It is only a test, do not adjust your monitor.

two ways to do it, not going to tell you the first bad way to do it in less all else fails. get some 1/2 inch sockets and find one that will fit in the housing hole and also grab the race, I`ve done it before not to hard, good luck but you won`t need it . mike

gear case

if you have not already gotten the outer bearing race out
you can run a weld bead on the inside of the outer race let it cool and then about 30 min. turn it upside down and it will probably fall out.
