    LSX, something like this?

We used the FAST XIM to run the ignition, had a high failure rate (half failed to run the ignition correctly), so have switched to the MSD product. Remember that on the LS2 and later they run a 56 tooth reluctor wheel on the crank, so need the appropriate software. Else we re-flash the Delphi ECU (no dramas once you have a copy to use), and the exhaust manifolds we have off-the-shelf.

A few guys here are looking at doing the Nissan 5.6, so shall pay some attention their way...

I say they like weight savings more than torque all take a light 600 HP light weight high rpm engine over a 300 pound heavier engine with 600 HP and lower rpm and high torque. i can have the impella cut for the higher rpm and i dont think any one wants a big inch deisel thats high torque and big inch.

Way cool, imagine if there was forced induction on top of that, along with an optimised cam!!!

Still, can buy a crate LS2 for that money, or just about have an LSx 427ci made (600+hp).

GM said at the time the LS1 was released there was no advantage to running DOHC. Weighing the 4.0L Toyota 1UZFE comes in not much lighter than an SBC with alloy intake manifold and water pump, while the LSx weighs in at 387lbs. The extra 3 cams, valves and springs make a huge difference...

    not meeee

i know a guy turns a 468 9600rpm.... the small blk wont make the torque through the rpm band...you'll have to prove it to me...........thats why the jetboat drag boats use big blk!!

yup we all owen 6000 hp drag boats. 99 precent of us have boats that have 600 hp or less i bet, so up to the 1200 hp point all take the light weight engine

    i didnt say 6000hp

my point is a boat aint like a car the boat takes more continuous torque---so it would take a expensive small blk to off set the weight aspect of it plus higher rpm's dont mean squat if ya dont have the torque...u can buy a crate 572 for 14000range ud have damn neer that much or equal in a small blk and not out run it......i would luv to see a test though...

You may have knocked the nail on the head there....

455maveric, what numbers are you wanting to get from your boat? (Realistically, everyone wants to do a 100...)
