Penzoil 100% synthetic Hands down easy to get, burns great, good $ and flat out works GREAT!!! The ALISYN i dont care for, hard to read piston tops,(lots of unburned crap??)can not just run up to the store and get some, and hate the fact that it is clear. I take all the gas out of my boat every year and burn in my chain saws the Alisyn is scary looking, when you pour in the saw.... is there oil in that gas????????hahah

Glad to see all the positive discussion on this topic!
There can be little doubt that the Penn is good stuff with so many using it and engine builders backing it up. Alisyn, Amsoil are also premium choices. I got into Amsoil back when I raced, have used it in everything 2 stroke and almost every horsepower. I have a 22 year old 30 Johnson with Lord only knows how many hours on it. All with Amsoil 100:1. If it blew up next week the next engine would get Amsoil.
When I went to Mercury school years ago the instructor talked about how important it is to "season" a new engine on quality oil and keep using quality oil. Personally, I think that using the same oil all of the time is key also. Using the same oil is REALLY important in an injector system. Mixing several brands of oil in a resevoir has been know to cause gelling problems.1970 15' Allison/135 Chrysler stacker

They used to use Helmets STV. And his foot is as a lot like mine. I ran a lot of Royal Purple and never had any issues at all other than it's expensive and burns a little dirty.
For now it's the Penn Semi syn and Full Synthetic and no complaints whatsoever at all about anything about it other than it smells funky.

Most of todays synthetics are good I find consistant ratio's to be a real hard thing to keep accurate. The metric system has 1 good feature in that the math for getting ratios correct is real simple. A real good example, a buddy would top up and then add oil., I found with him doing the math at the pump and frequently rounding off would seem to always wind up at 55-1 instead of 50-1. After 3 or 4 times of this would wind at a 65-1 ratio in the tank.
I like to mix in 5 gal jugs and always have same mix, a bit of a pain but also like to use a funnel with a fine screen and keep the fuel tanks as clean as poss.
