I'm not a dealer for any oil and don't make a dime on any oil sales PERIOD I DO sometimes see 2 to 3 motors tore down a WEEK that run every conceivable brand and ratio. I haven't torn down a motor YET thats ran or runs Pen. that didn't make the "trip" can't say that about other but I don't sell it either so I don't have an agenda..

The worlds full of opinions ( and thats great ) I gather mine from observation of Many Many Many motors I tear down not just a select few....I see what oils claim to do and how they deliver and or not deliver...As I said my customers have had 100% success with Penn. others can run whatca please thats what make the world go round all I can do is report what I see ands others are raving about the Penn...

I will bet anyone that the second most popular oil next to the Mercury or other OEM oils is Penn... Read any open forum oil poll for your self..

Ok....just getting back into the fast water. Our last was a 1500 tower starting in the early 80's.

2003 225 Pro Max now so the FI and OI are all new to me. Been checking with the local hot crowd and was kind'a surprised with how many are using the Merc synth, from 2cycle to gear, so will be checking here to see what the rest are recommending.

I switched to Amsoil Dominator in all my 2-stroke dirt bikes and what a difference for the better. I was doing top end jobs every moto-cross season because of compression loss. Since I switched to Amsoil My son has raced 3 seasons with no compression loss, no plug fouling and the exhaust and piston are super clean. I pulled it apart just to see and put it back together without doing a top end job this season. So now I use Amsoil HP Injector for my 3.0L DFI optimax.

I have pulled down quite a few Paul in fact in front of customers that thought Amzoil as well as another "top" selling oil that they thought was great until standing their and get shown the issues with the oil , but I don't expect you or anyone of the Amzoil crowd to believe me..

Me I could care less how an oil smells smells or smokes I want wet lubrication...Also I refuse to get into an oil debate, run what cha please. Run the wrong thing and my Z06 note gets paid, ain't missed a note yet... AS for myself I wouldn't run some of these "Magical Elixer" oils that seem to have a silly "occult followings" in a lawn mower but as I said its my opinion and what I choose as what you and everyone run is your business and what you choose... OIl debates are like an argument about Chevy and Ford Paul no winners, just opinions.

i agree w/ u jay i wasnt meaning it as a pissing contest j/w and like you said it an opion i just know what i use and all my cars boats and weed eater motors as i said penn is very good oil and i would use it all the time but i get my amsoil for the same price and like it just as much but they offer other products that penn doesnt... we all know what wins chevy vs ford chevy all the way ford found their problem and circled it on all of their cars and trucks...

In fishing motors I feel comfortable with the major brand petroleum based oils like Pennzoil, Mercury and the other usual engine manufacturer labeled oils... Mix it right and use them responsibily and they'll run strong for year, after year, after year... In a race Merc, I stand with the opinion that they quite typically will suffer a fate that isn't directly related to improper lubrication as long as major brand synthetic was used... No doubt that some are better than others but it seems that a likely culprit will be something along the line of engine management like fuel delivery, timing & ignition, etc. that seals their fate...

Alisyn has never failed me. Four seasons of hard running on a re-built Bridgeport, running at 32:1 turning 7000-8000 rpm on factory cast pistons.
