Taking it up to 2" below the pad is not what the shooter liked at all. Time for a prop change no doubt.

A 2.6 would be a 175 or 235 crossflow. You either have a 2.7 or 3.0 since you have a looper.

On my last OMC motor I ran a Raker and was pleased with the performance.

I've got 2 for you to try Dustin...just let me know....my DAH 26P MACH chopper and a 28P A5 small ear thats sittin at DAH right now getting "fixed". You will most likely want a 14 1/4" or 14 1/2" diameter over the 14" props i'm running but playing with as many props as you can get your hands on isn't a bad thing.
Theres a whole bunch of props to be had around here if you get back this way I'll compile some for you. OR you could make it to a Power Tour stop and have a whole bunch available to you there too.
I agree, SRX will most likely be your go-to wheel once you find out what the boat wants and get it worked on to do what you need it to do.1976 Hydrostream Viper - 2.5 EFI

I have had great luck with my 25 Trophy for an "all around" prop". With that prop on the boat and the motor 1" under the pad I can pull up a wakeboarder with 3 people + gear in the boat, or drop them off and still run close to 80 with the same setup. I also have a DAH worked 27 SRX....great all around prop if it's just me in the boat, but when you start adding people and gear, I like the trophy better.
I have ran several different types of Shooters, Renegades, and Rakers.....and they all slipped pretty bad and low speeds unless I dropped the motor down another inch or so. The Trophy was the only prop I've found that has great bite at slow speeds even with the motor relativity high.Last edited by imq707s; 01-04-2011 at 01:39 PM.

The same props suggested for your OMC will work the same with your Merc. I really enjoy my 27 SRX for all around use. I also run a 30 MACH chopper that gets my best top end speeds. I use a 27 Renegade 4 blade to pull wakeboarders but a lower pitch prop would be better for pulling skiers out of the hole.

my first vector with a 235 i ran the propshaft even with 4 in setback, a 29 spinelli for up and down the river and a 24 small ear chopper for pairing off , later, in both my varmints with merc power , i think its the same bottom, ran the same spinelli but had to step up to a yamaha style 24 for the drags
