    how does your f.t.n. work?

anyone care to share what reducing nozzle size did for them?

mike i think you would be hard pressed to make any real advances on what is available out there now. ive read some papers and articals on fluid dynamics, and the math is pretty intence, and the forces complicated at least to me, but i wish you good luck

    thanks thompy

im just wondering if people using these nozzles are getting higher speeds with smaller diameters or better holeshot

i think if you restricted it to much and had decient hp it would destroy the pump

the place diverter makes 5 different sizes for the ftn. the pump or boat will react to the different sizes. on our drag boat we custom cut a lot of different sizes to test and was amazed that it would make a difference even for a very small difference in size. ie .020-.030 of an inch. i feel that in chasing the max of performance you can expect to see 1-3 mph increase . in racing this is the difference of winning or losing, in a lake ride this is going to be minor noticable gain and you are going to have to test your specific boat because of the many numbers of variables to each application. i dont think you are going to find a bolt on magic bullet that will give you a tremendous speed difference. but always good luck maybe its still out there.

so maybe 3 mph, sounds good. i would take 3mph for the cost of a can of bondo. its as good as the no gains promise from adding a place diverter.they only promise a rooster tail and gains will vary. some people say it slowed them down. and its a lot less money than a place diverter

    Ftn

I have a FTN place diverter the inserts do make a small diffrence in the way the boat comes out of the water and a little on the top speed but not alot.I have a rather heavy lay up boat and a 461ci BBC with B&M 420 blower.I get the best out of a red insert. You really have to do more than just that to get more speed, but you will get more speed as well as use less fuel with the place diverter, FTN or not.It will let you find the right place to run the boat and will help get more of the boat out of the water.
You need a shoe and ride plate first in my eyes,if you have that then maybe a droop or strait snoot, loader, bowl work inducer ect....

But what I have learned is the pump is where you get your speed from.

    Ftn

19 ft Daytona 461" BBC, 180 shot via wide open throttle switch, launching from a idle.
Black insert : boat hits rev limiter, hops twice unloading pump both times then goes.
Custom insert 2.900" no other changes: boat hits rev limiter for much shorter period, boat lifts nose and jumps on plane never unloading pump.
Much better hole shot with the smaller nozzle insert, and gps 101 in 1000 ft.
This is with a race nozzle and no trim adjustments.
IMO the small nozzle is for hole shot and tha larger ones are for top end, but like the name implies they are for fine tuning.
