1996 Yamaha 200 Mids Interchangable with Older Yamaha Powerheads

Anyone know if and older 1988 2.6L Yamaha 225 Excel powerhead will bolt up to a 1996 200 Midsection. I came across a pair of sinker motors and a pair of excels with busted shift shafts (and no lower units) . . . just wondering if I can make a working set for a fishing boat project. Otherwise I'm gonna go twin Merc 135 2.0L's. Keeping this project on the cheap.

Can the electrical system from a 1989 be used on a 1990 if they are also both 2.6 motors and both 2 stroke, was wondering because I have a good 1990 225 and need the harness and electrical and I found a 1989 with everything but it has a hole in the block

Yes. I think the 1989 and 1990 225 were identical.

The only main difference I think is the charging system went to 35 amps in 1990 the stator and flywheel are completely different part numbers
But I can transfer all the 1989 good parts to my 1990 which has missing parts and end up with a complete motor with the oil tank and control module I am thinking
I am new to Yamaha interchange but for OMC I am very experienced
