    pump confusion

look at this pic and tell me what is the deal? i was looking at a picture of a boat on here that had the bowl off and the shaft was sticking out past the impeller and had a smooth end that looked like it would go in a bearing somewhere in the bowl. this must be the bearing that needs the gear lube? mine just ends at the funny nut? what is up im confused.

You've got me confused. Show us a picture of yours. The end of the shaft that sticks out behind the impeller nut is smooth to run in the bowl bushings.

There are 1/8th inch plugs at the 10 and 2 positions on the top of the bowl.

Remove both plugs, add gear oil there, once full, and the oil is clear, replace caps.

Okay, If you pull your bowl off, yours should look just like the one in the other picture.

I'll bet you are looking into the back of your bowl thinking you are seeing your impeller. What you are seeing in there is he back of the bowl veins, not your impeller. The impeller with the shaft sticking out the back is directly in front of the bowl plug and veins that you are looking at.

Duane is correct Mike. If you pull the bowl off it will look like the other pic. you posted.. From your pic. it is the veins in the bowl, your impeller is behind that.. Like he said..
