Ride-Guide steering cable removal?
Hey guys, i have a 1987 v-king YT that i am setting up for center steer. i removed the old helm and removed the cables from the engine.....now i cant get the cables through the hull? both ends are to big to fit through the holes on the side of the boat... it has duel ride guide steering cables. the only reason i don't want to cut them is because im giving them to a friend for his boat. Any tips? im not sure if they come apart from some how? one end is still attached to the helm wich is removed from the boat

Rack system? If it is then you have to unbolt the racks from the helm assembly and disassemble each. Each cable has a nut and cotter pin on the end that has to be removed (7/16" socket ZI believe. Then undo the jam nut on the rack..(Close to a one inch wrench I think and then unthread rack from cable.... That should do it.
