I just acquired and am rebuilding a Mercury Twister 1 tall 6 banger with the huge exhaust log setup that was sitting in the sun for 12-15 years. Its beginning to look like new again as I clean it up and assemble it. I don't have a period boat for it yet or even a prop, but I am looking and please email me if you have some of this stuff, but I need technical data on the engine in every way possible, as I am used to working on Mercury 55H, Mercury DMH, Mercury 75H, 650 and 44 RAT FEHs, British Anzani, Crescent and Konig racing engines. This thing is a monster that would even sink my F-Hydro so I have a lot to learn to bring this baby back safely to health. ANYONE OUT THERE A MERCURY TWISTER FAN, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU BADLY, I DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANY MISTAKES. email hydrop@mb.sympatico.ca if you can help with technical data, props, hulls etc. - John Taylor

Twister 1 (Blue)
You have a classic/ unique motor there. Enjoy the rebuild. Apart from the obvious add on castings, the inside is mainly stock I6 parts. Made all my own gaskets for the nla exhaust stuff
Sand blasted to bare, etch prime, then undercoat and repaint
Came up mint
Have a video of it running somewhere
Intend to try it out on a 16ft V bottom ex racer when I finally get around to the painting of thatPeter Thomas

Love the looks of the T1. Like to see a C6 front on one.

One thing which comes to mind is mid from low carb tuning. They were likely purpose tuned for the t2 and even though porting I think was near the same the exhaust difference and scavenging might need some carb tuning. If possible, the late TC from the FORCE fours had air bleeds which every other earlier TC did not. Wonder if they could be made to fit the tight carb spacing as the original were done. As well , no choke plates and threaded bosses to accept the air horn.

I figured as much. They barely fit five inline on a custom F5 front , bigger bores more space which I'm doing. But they might be able to be cut down to fit.
