    Question rpm

    got another question,, neebie and all,, got a 351w with g.t.40 heads pretty much stock,, at full pull im gettin 4000,41000 rpm, s.d.309 al. aa impeller, 21 ft. eagle e6, is that the rite rpm the engine should be getin??

    according to the chart, if you want to spin that motor higher, you need more power. says 300-350 hp is where you're sitting, and if you want to turn the motor to 6k, you need more power.

    The 351 as you stated are usually run 48-5000 Rpm

    "AA" cut is a lot to ask for from a small block to turn much past 4K, an "A" cut will add a couple hundred rpm for you, and put you in peak rpm band.

    Need more info, what is the timing? how much advance? Big question is how much carb? what cfm?????? jet boats love carb!! It will run good if it is rite! what cam u runnin?

    Another big question is- is the boat dry or wet? alot of the old t boats got alot of water in the floors and transom, bulkheads because of the way they were layed up.
    I have seen them so heavy from moisture in the wood. I have a shop and restore jet boats, there are so many things that affect performance.

    I run mine 34 deg total, 600 or 750 cfm carb, cam is 224 234 duration @ .050. Crane. Mine is a v-drive. You could run 36 deg timing however the more rpm I like to run 34 deg, my reason with nitrous the timing needs to be retarded when applied. 2 deg for every 50 hp.
