gale banks twin turbo 460
Does anyone have any tunning info on the late 70's gale banks twin turbo draw though systems. I have a kit with the intercooler and turbos manifold for the carbs and all the pluming. Just lloking for timing and spark plugs and the gap. Anyone else running this setup on a big block Thanks Kevin

I have a Banks twin turbo 468 BBC. I didn't build it so I can't give any tuning advice, but I really like the set-up. I am disappointed to hear that Banks would not help you out when you called for advice.

timing, pull out a few degrees, run the boat on 110 octane for safety when you're tuning. start your gap at .038 or so, maybe a little bigger. depending on your ignition you can open them up some more. also, a heat range colder (low boost applications) than stock will help with detonation. just general turbo tuning.
Boost free, for now...

oh yea, raise the boost in increments. start very low, like 3 psi. between runs, make sure your heads aren't being lifted. use a wideband. tuning 101...
at given boost level, run baseline.
if the AFR is rich, and there is no knock, add timing. if it leans out the next run with the timing, you're still in good shape. add a bit more fuel, run it again. if it continues to lean out when adding timing, you can repeat the process. when adding timing does NOT lean out the mixture any longer, pull two degrees and you're basically good to go.
obviously, if your baseline run is lean, you can add fuel before messing with the timing.
adjusting fuel, i can't help you with, i have no clue what you'd do with a set of carbs, my tuning background is small displacement, bigger boost, EFI. anyway, best of luck, and if it's over your head, find an expert.Boost free, for now...
