    Inline Exhaust Stacks

Are these the same pipes that fit an inline six? I realize there are only 2 here and the plate is for a 4cylinder. I mean the pipe and elbow themselves. I think these were part of a merc part, did someone rotate them 45Deg? I know 25SS has some pipes that are 45Deg.

Yes, you are correct those are 2 of 3 Merc BP pipes (not Quincy) that someone rotated

This set up was common in the northwest in APBA's 1100cc runabout class. The 4 cylinder 85 is 1100cc's and uses the same bore and stroke as the 99 ci Mercs

    Thanks Sam.

Anybody got another pipe (straight or rotated) and maybe a mounting plate for a 6cyl? how about a filler block?

Those will be hard parts to come by. With this economy someone may come off some of their stuff. It looks as if the water injection was added but you do have some of the correct springs. Are some of them shorter than the others?

Filler blocks are tough to find. I have a set of Quincys for a 1967 1100SS.but no filler block.Have the water tube (thanks DaveS) but unusable without the filler block. If anyone could use what I have,I am open to offers as I never received the 1100 I paid for years ago.

How hard would it be to make a filler block with some modelling clay, a hunk of alum and a mill? I was thinking the plate and filler block could be machined.

The filler block in my 20H with Bayer pipes on it would be pretty easy to make, I think.

oh, The springs are diff sizes.

I think the only 6 pipe set Quincy ever made was for the 60-66 ci motors.

The filler block is an incredibly complicated piece. It would probably be easier to cast a piece rather than machine from billet. If you make the clay mold you will see what I mean.

Surprise..Merc 800 with sportmaster..Quincy was all I could afford..Merc's were impossible to get..We even bought them for one of Dave Craig's Powercat's with 800's..I never saw a set down here on a 60 or 66 ci motor..but we did have open stacks on a Mark 78 or two..

I saw these at Mt Dora a few years back. When he ran the boat it was not loud like the Merc Stacker pipes. They were no louder than XS.

Bruster's Mercury solid motor mounts, details here:

I'm pretty sure I asked about your stacks before and other people were sure they were Merc stacks ... I am glad you can set this straight.

You are confusing me about the Mk78 ... open exhaust or 6 pipes?

    pipes

If you look close at the stacks, there are no gussets between the pipes..they were all self standing, unlike the ones from Merc..They were made a little heavier, and shorter..and the Mercs did sound better..but...What's a decibel meter? Between those and my artillery ears, my wife says I'm deaf..works for me
