I am sure it will make a great bass boat, etc... motor. Unless Brian slaps it one on his XR2001 adds a turbo/supercharger some computer fuel remapping. Who knows with someone who knows how to make on run what the limitations are.

The thought has already crossed my mine. I have also already hit up those funny talking engineers for a 10K rpm computer but had no luck That doesn't mean I will give up.

It's a pity they didn't bring out a 300hp SHO right off the bat, as obviously this new 4.2 motor is more than capable of making that kind of power (with the offshore version)

I wonder if it's an ecu change away or internal differences aswell.

Check out the comparison to the Verado on the 300 offshore page.

That was a short run for the v-8s

"at 558 pounds, the F300 is 246 pounds lighter than
    the V8 it replaces,"

so similar weight as a 20 yr old 2nd Effort offshore 390 HP V8
but the V8 slips in as lightest in its class along with 30% more power and a tough twin pinion lower!

Yep, thats about when 2 stroke outboard technology stopped as far as I'm concerned. Those twin pinion cases were big $$$.
