Blew 02' Yamaha 250 vmax

Any reasons why the 2 top cylinders on either side of the block ran lean and blew and all the other cylinders are normal?

Have you called the guys at hydrotec (yamaha-rebuild.com) They are very helpfull, well atleast they were with me, but I was buying parts.
