A couple weeks ago craigslist had an auction announcement for this stuff

Some high demand collectible stuff, but a lot more second tier stuff ... a lot of it will be bought on speculation of resale.

I predict we will see a lot of this stuff on eBay in the coming months, with starting prices (and reserves) above normal selling prices.

Too many guys think the modified and alcohol race stuff has similar value to the antique Stock racing and clean collectible OPC stuff, but in fact the normal value is usually proportionally half or less. For example, at $1,500 (a good price for even a ratty Mark20H or very nice D Quicksilver lower unit) it is hard to find a buyer for a cut up Speedmaster or a 40 year old (obsolete for 35 years) Konig alky motor.

And just because something is rare, doesn't make it valuable ... for example that Volvo sterndrive race lower unit ... extremely rare, but not in high demand, I think one sold on eBay for $200 with only one bid earlier this year ... no one wanted it (this could even be the very same one).

I'll download these pics and point out the names and details of some of these parts and motors.

Also alot of the user motors will be lost to ethonol. The old carb gasket fuel lines and the such. Even newer stuff 2stroke is getting beat up from our present day fuel. Rick

Sam not at all what do you do with these older motors. Would love to run a dock buster and that race stuff is obsolete I know display it. I have gathered a few and they collect dust and take up space. Rick

No you miss my point you and Dave S can run these the average consumer cant use these. Never melt I have a 30's engine I am in the process of restoring and gonna run but there becomes a limit on what a non-user motor is worth. I really like the engine you run that to me is a work of art.Rick

OK, I can agree with that, and the fewer guys that want a particular motor or part, the lower the value on the open market.

I really doubt there will be anyone there who knows what all the stuff is, but that doesn't always stop the auction price from going well above normal prices ... easy to get stung in a frenzy

    Super Speed Masters

Thats a nice pile.....some one is going to get some goodies. Not Me ...... tooo far. But It might come up on E bay. And go to the next care-taker. I wish I was an old merc racing motor rather than an old boat racer. They just get the dirt.
