Ralph Evinrude test center in Stuart, FL
I really enjoyed reading the Lake X thread and was wondering if anyone has any pictures, stories or test boats of the Ralph Evinrude Test center in Florida.
Where in Stuart, Fl is it located?
Thanks

Ralph Evinrude Test Center
IBM/Bombardier Recreational-Bombardier Motor Corporation of America, paid only $120,000 for the entire waterfront property in 2002, due to OMC's bankruptcy position. This included almost 5 acres of submerged land as well, which, if you have ever been to Stuart these days, is invaluable in this areas rate of expansion, investment wise. The entire property is destined to be redeveloped as a marina by the city, in the future. Stuart used to be a very quiet, backwater, sparsely populated, winter retreat for snowbirds. Not anymore. The Ralph Evinrude Test Center is located at: 75 N.W. Flagler Avenue, Stuart, Florida, 34994. Hope this helps.

It is located on the west side of the Roosevelt Bridge. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...h&z=17&iwloc=A
Stuart is actually about an hour south of where Hwy 60 hits I-95Last edited by VectorPat; 09-24-2009 at 08:14 PM. Reason: .

Is it still active? I am guessing that it has the break wall around it?
Thanks

LAT/LON for Evinrude Test Facility
Go to 27 12.400N and 080 15.600W
That will take you to the place. The big bridge to the right was not there when the test facility was going full bore.
I have lived in Stuart since 1986. We used to see test boats all the time, back then. I think there is still some testing going on, but its so little its hard to even know it its a test boat or just a citizen exercising his water rights.Charlie

The last I heard there was about 7 or 8 people working there. I drive by there a couple times a month and it always looks like the same boats sitting in the same place. Nothing ever changes.

My first trip to Ralph Evinrude Test Center in Stuart was 1977.
OMC´s Racing boss Jack Leek invited me.
Jack and I was watching Jimbo McConnell testing something new at the river.
