    22 Donzi/21 Cig/21 Shadow OB

    Question,

The 22 Donzi's I see have the round keel. with a stock BB/Bravo they run 60plus . The few I have been in lay way up on the side when you turn em. Spooky. Some ads claim 75-80 mph with the factory Merc HP/BB/B1

The 21 Cigs if you find one have the true deep V Don't know the speeds. I would expect it would take a least 450-500HP to get one 75-80mph

The 21 Shadow we all know, with a Good 300hp OB should run 75-80 easy

    Here is my question

I have yrs of experience in a 21 Shadow OB 2 300hp. I know what to expect on an average summer day with 2-3ft lake chop.

Will the rough water ride in a Donzi 22 or the 21 Cig be better or knock you fillings out? Will a 496/375MPI Bravo 1 with captains call really push either of these to 75-80mph?

Any input or reference to find out would be appreciated. Shoot me an email or give me a call.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Your question begs another.....Why do you ask?

The Shadow was designed after the other two as a more modern, better performing alternative. The target market for all 3 was the same and the Shadow is , all in all, the best performer, and best handling of the 3 (not knocking the others in any way). So if you are looking to go for a stern drive...none of them is well balanced with a big block and all will need bow weight.... The Donzi will chine walk with power (correctable somewhat with either tabs, a Bravo 3 , or both. The Cigarette will CW to a lesser degree, and the Shadow can get up on the pad and fly straight, if you know what you're doing.

Bottom line...if you already have a Shadow, you will not be taking a step forward with either of the other two. On the other hand only you can decide if there is some added value in the "panache" of the other two legendary marques.

I am not sure if you are looking to make an I/O purchase, you should also at the Howard 23 Offshore as a very good option.

The Cig is an awsome ride and if you go with a small block along with a Black Hawk drive and longer tap's i think you should be able to hit speeds in the 85 range .

For 75-80 mph in a 22 Donzi your looking at the 496HO/425 package. As far as the Cig. they no longer make the 20 and they are somewhat of a collectors item these days I believe.....

Dunno to much about the shadow....

Rich did you have different mold layouts for your single OB 21's twin OB 21's and your stern drive 21's?

Which setup did the boat like the most?
