    Berkley jet drive Tech help

Hey everyone, I bought a Sleekcraft Jet boat with a 454 in it. It runs great but seems like it needs a different prop in the drive. The motor spins up to 5000 RPM real easy and I wait for the boat to get up to speed it jumps right out of the water and gets there fast but it seems like the motor has pleanty of power to change the impeller. I have never had a Berkley jet drive before so I do not know if there are different pitchs. I would also like to add a Place diverter does anyone have a good used one. Are they good to install. Will I loose performance?

Need more motor info and condition of the pump. 5000 may be correct, or may mean a worn out pump, depending on HP and pump age. Call me at the shop @ 623-877-8553 TIMM

    jet boat report

    Hey Timm

great talking with you yesterday sorry we got cut short on the call. I took out the boat to use up the fuel and se what may be in the tank, There is definitly somthing in there. I disconecceted the fuel line from the other tank and the main tank had somthing blocking it. I blew in the line to clear it but every time I gave it gas it blocked it again. I do not know how I'm going to get the tank out to see what is in it but will try the tilt and look first. Ruined our afternoon took us about an hour to get back to the dock once the problem started. Doesn't do it when the tank is full. I will send you an e-mail today have a great one!

agree with the others that more info needed on the motor to make opinion, but to answer some of your other questions, yes the impellors are available in different sizes ie pitch if you will, these sizes and yours can probably be ,cut down, will affect your rpm and speed. as to a diverter , hard to find a good used one as i personally seldom see them resold. i believe that they are one of the better bolt on additions that you can do to your jet, have never heard of one, hurting performance, but as a general rule i have seen normal increases of 3 to 7 mph on most installations. the diverter will add a lot of drivability to your jet.

Is it normal for a G=Berkeley to not pump right away?????

I have a G-Berkeley on a 20' Scorpion. When you first put the boat in the water it does not move until you stab it a few times. Just wondering if that is normal for a jet. It does have a droop snoot and the pump is fully setback. Maybe an air lock????

Airlock is common with a droop, leave the reverse gate up and back it in the water faster on the trailer. It helps. TIMINATOR

there is a simple air valve that is on the market that may also help the problem, it is installed in the bowl and will release the air bubble from it when put in the water, when the bowl is pressurized it blows the walve shut, easy install and may also cure your problem. available from many sources, i also have them pm me if interested.
