Prop assistance required
I think I've squeezed every last MPH with my current setup, so I'm looking for some direction. I've got the jackplate (thanks Davey) just about to be painted and installed so I'm sure that'll help a bit.
What direction should I go with testing props, three blade bigger pitch? four blade smaller pitch? Chopper, Fury, cleaver??? I'm running a Trophy 24p, WOT with it is 5300, going 54 MPH on the GPS. I've been told by several Merc guys not to spin my 'ol 115 past 5500-5600. So really I can only gain 200 RPM. My hole shot is good and my mid range acceleration is great (for a 115)

There's no need to spin that engine over 5300-5400 at any time. They make loads of torque, and they last longer kept under that range. You might be surprised, it may be able to turn a 25 or 26 to 5300 also.

I agree whole heartedly, it is a torque monster. I'm just not sure what I should be trying. Some guys rave about 3 blade choppers, other swear by the fury. There so many different configurations or styles...Whats a good top speed prop? I should mention I'm without LWP at this point so not able to make the most of surface piercing props.

You don't want the free-wheeling holeshot slip of the chopper. Thru-hubs like the small-hub Trophy Plus would likely still be the best bet. Try out a 25p and see how hard you can turn it. Try out others too when you get the chance.

The only reason I was thinking chopper is for the extra bow lift. I don't really have enough HP to carry the bow, so I have a lot of hull in the water. Ive been trying to get someone to run with me for a while now so I can get pictures up on plane, but no luck yet.

Here's another question, does hub exhaust effect small, non thru hub props, or does it just make for cavitation?
