I just lost reverse in my 3500,6.5t.d. can anybody tell me if the whole tranny will have to come apart or is it an easy fix.

what year model is it? you lost reverse only? usually reverse and 2nd gear tend to go together with those. either way, yes the entire trans is going to have to come apart and its not an easy, or cheap fix.

Not sure if this helps but you can get rebuilt one off EBAY for around $1300 with 3 year 100,000 mile warranty.

    trans

Most likely reaction shell broke, when it happens you'll need a 2-4 band, reaction shell, seals, if no other damage, might as well put clutches in it since it since it apaprt. IMO if you are going to keep the vehicle replace it with a dealer serta, or jasper and get 100,000 mile warrranty.
