    V-Drive eliminator daytona question

I have a chance to buy a 1985 21ft eliminator daytona v-drive. Someone told me these boats were kind of rare with the v-drive set up, so I was wondering if this was true, and if it might be worth buying for the right price. thanks

i think that you will find that a lot of the tunnel hulls are reasonably RARE that were ever made with the v-dr. as to any rare collector value i dont think that they will beat a path to your door. the eliminator was/is always a very top notch boat. being that this one is over 20 years old any buyer should have the boat check out thoughly and let the condition dictate price. if at all possible take for a test run if the v-dr was installed improperly this can be one ill handling beast. my .02 if it cannot be test drove by it at a project boat price.

    I have a 21 Daytona V drive.
It's the fastest boat I've ever had and the most fun too.
Handles rough water great. We ski and tube with it too.

I have pics of the one in fla. and that looks like a good buy.

    Give me a call at 616 813 7237
There are videos of my boat running on youtube.

Thanks for the info guys, I was wondering what kind of speed these v drives run at compared to an outboard daytona. I have been in a 19ft daytona that would run around 95 with a 260 merc, just wondering how much hp it would take to get this boat to run triple digits. thanks again, mike

I get asked that every day.
I have never topped the boat out and probably never will.

I know a guy in Ca who has the same hull with a blower motor and has gone 135 in the 1/4 with it. I just don't need to go there.

This is not to be compared with any outboards.
The acceleration with a Vdrive is night and day difference.
    I go from 20 - 100 in 3 1/2 to 4 seconds.

I like outboards but 300 hp is never going to accelerate like 1500 hp is.
To me, the thrill ride is in the acceleration more than the top speed.

I took the guy with the fastest outboard around for a ride a couple weeks ago. He runs and honest 127 mph with an STV /300 drag motor.
After a short 95 mph blast he said, "I don't like my boat anymore"

By the way, I got an email from the guy with the 21 Daytona vdrive.
    He'll sell it for 10k.
That's some kind of record deal.

In the planning stages for a V-Dive Silhouette. It's going to get a high rev (8000 rpm red line) small block chevy in it, 450 hp at the crank. It should do all right.

Jon Wrights outboard drag hydro can accelerate like that

    No Its not Andy.
    The guy is from Fla.

If I had any extra money
I'd buy it and just store it in the barn.

But Jon's boat is probably not a 4 seat lake boat that they ski and tube with too.

More likely a nitrous injected shingle with a life expectancy of 2 minutes.

Can you post a pic of the cave plates. I don't know if it was yours or another one, the cav plate was on the center pod and that was it. Nothing on the out side sponsons.

Most of the Daytona V drives just come with the center cav plate and a T handle.
I added the outer plates and a down pedal.

Thank you. Did you notice any change when you added the ones on the out side, better hole shot?
