Flex plate VS Flywheel

Why I am asking is is the ring gear on my 455 Olds is bad and I have not been able to find a ring gear to repair it so what would the drawbacks of using a flex plate vs a flywheel

Less rotating mass, engine will rev quicker

looked at my drive yoke and i cant use a flexplate with out having to have a spacer made for the crank flange

I "Coonass machined" a spacer for it.
I forget what I used to make the spacer out of........... Use your imagination
As long as your spacer supports your bolts and doesn't allow them to bottom out you should be fine.

Looks like a spacer will be made no ring gear to be found i think a few hole saws and drill will work making it and i have some aluminume

your boat will do a burn out. my boat has a flex plate insted of a flywheel and i will set still when you goose it.
