Ford 460 Thermostat Question
Hey I have a glastron cvx-20 with a ford 460 bb .. It runs cold barely at 100 degrees so i checked to see if there was a thermostat in it and there is nothing there. Is there not suppose to be one? or should i put one in?

area of different opinions. most every jet i have ever seen spanning 30 years and hundred of boats does not have a thermostat in the housing, some are not o-grooved to accept them. there are special housings made to accept them but they will have 4 ports so that they will continue to supply water to your exhaust as the thermostat cycles. most of the jets will run colder than an auto, area of great debate but i have never seen this to be an issue. in my opinion leave it alone it will be fine.

you can use ball valves in the inlet and outlet water supplies to control pressure and temp, but they do take a little fiddling to keep dialed in.

If it runs well and has no problems, don't ask for any it truley will open a can of worms. 460 don't fair well with overheats.

There is usually a tap at the back the more you open it the more water flows through. Should be coming out of the jet and into the exhaust manifolds then into the block.
Better way is to get a pressure release tap from your local plumbing shop, then dremel out the spacer in your thermo housing. but then you have to drill 2 x 3/8 holes in your thermostat just to allow for some water flow all the time.
Make sence? PM me if it don't. I'm at work and making this quick.
