Question Starting jazz out of water

I just bought a 1993 bayliner jazz and would like to know how to run it out of water.

I can't remember how/if you can put water to it, BUT........... DO NOT crank it on the trailer dry. What it'll do is the exhaust fumes will backfire/pop and blow the ride plate loose from the fittings in the hull, warping it. The reshape of the plate will be subtle, but the boat will only cavitate and not get on top. I bought one that this had happened to a while back and almost never figured it out until HalfFast told me what to look for. If it pulls the threaded fittings out of the hull when it pops the plate you've got a mess to try and fix. Luckily, mine broke bolts. I replaced the bolts, but the minor reshape of the plate still kept the boat from planing, and the plate had to be replaced.

I have the sqme question. How does one tap into the cooling water hose such as to provide enough flow to run the engine out of the water? Does anything else need to be done?

What motor do you have? Force or Merc? I have a 120 Force and the dealer wanted 80 clams for it. Went to ace hardware and made one for like 20 bucks. The Force just screws into the top of the powerhead.
