Verado 350 Sci vs Optimax 300XS
Hi!
I currently have two Merc 2.5 EFI SS engines with PCU's on my Phantom 25. There have been some electrical issues, but they are now ok. However, the setup is very expensive to use. We pay NOK 13 per litre gas, approx. USD 8 per gallon. And one litre synthetic oil costs approx. USD 105 per gallon.... Figure the cost; 80-100 litre an hour and 3% oil..... Thats approx. USD 250 per hour...
So I consider to go back to one engine. I had a promax 300 with SVS for many years. I am now considering Verado 350 Sci or Optimax 300XS. Any experiences with the two? The rpm range fit my boat very well.

I think both engines would give close performance figures. But 300XS will win in consumption and initial cost categories.
