intake questions on 455

is blocking the heat riser/egr passage at the intake manifold worth the effort? what can i block it with? do i need the valley pan if i have a large windage tray over lifter area already? i have the old port sonic intake .

I've used soda can, doubled up and cut to fit the gasket outline, or sheck with your local metal mart for a couple of peices of thin aluminum scrap.
