    Blocking water pickup holes

Now that i'm running my motor higher i would like to block off the top couple holes on my lower unit.
I tapped them so i could put bolts in which would be nice because i could remove them, but i dont like how they stick out.

What are you all using to block those first couple holes??

Bondo? Puddy? JB Weld? Ductape? Something special?

I dont want something that thats gunna get sucked into the pump...

    THANKS!!

a low water conversion is a good way to go about it if bob's makes one to fit your lower unit. If one isn't available perhaps a buddy with metal fab skills could help out. Other than that the only thing I could possible suggest would be a piece of fiberglass mat laid in place. If done right you could block them and then just sand through the thin layer of glass down the road to open them back up. Bondo I would think could get stuck in the holes or easily get blown out due to water pressure. I am by far not an expert in the field but that if the thoughts that pop in my head.

Set screws work very well, and if you want to be real fancy with it you can wipe em with silicon so they're almost invisible, and still easy to dig out and remove if you ever want to. RTV Silcion is available in black.

Always a post ahead of me.....Anyway, On my past 2.4 I used setscrews with Loctite and it worked quite well...I blocked off the top 4 holes out of 8 and did some testing all the while monitoring the water pressure...I eventually had to take out one of the 4 to end up with the top 3 blocked off....worked well for over a couple of years with no problems...
    Boatless..... but plotting

I have the top 4 block and then I modified the remaining and made it one big one by taking the humps in between down keeping the 4 round holes. Rick
