    Hardin Logs

I am replacing the gaskets for my Hardin (Logs)exhaust. I noticed that the washers were aluminum and in very poor shape. So, a couple questions:

    1. Are they supposed to be aluminum to protect the manifold?
    A. If yes, Will copper work just as well?
1a. If not copper, where the heck do I get Aluminum ones?

    2. Or will standard washer work fine?

The more I think about this , the more I am thinking regular washers would apply even pressure to the manifold when tightened.......
Maybe the washers I took off were just low grade material and the previous owner just kept tightening them and the result was deformed washers...........

Think the alum washers are for sealing but also alum is a sacrificial metal... Copper may not work in your app...? Alum washers can be found at some hardware stores but most likely ordered from a reg nut/bolt place or a Marine dealer...?
