    Teak Swim Platforms

Here's what I got to work with. Not the best of shape.

I'm debating making new swim platforms myself or buying news already assembled.
    Which would you do?

I'm no stranger to woodwork, so I could tackle this myself, just don't know if finding & buying new ones would be easier.
Anyone have any recommendations on getting new ones or materials to make new ones?

    Thanks, Rob

my first choice would be to reuse what you have, i really like the look of the teak, just my opinion. i believe it is tung oil that you use on the teak and will make it look new. skys the limit on the type of materials, my 2nd choice would be billett aluminum powder coated from rexmar or eddie marine i believe about 200 per side. i believe eddie marine also makes a custom one piece but if i recall in the 600 range. one could make it out of ply and resin coat and gel to color.

WOW, Eddie Marine does have some pretty nice stuff.
But, I'm with you, think I'll stick with the Teak.
Never had to shop for it before.
Would a HomeDepot/Lowes carry Teak, or should I be looking to a store like "wood working specialists" to find it?

u should be able to make that one look close to new
    I have seen way worse
Teak needs the oil or this is what they look like dry
I have used the cleaner with a fine brass brush(with the grain)
let dry then 120 sand paper light then teak oil set over night then another
coat of oil do the oil 3 times

RLP is on the money. Those will look like new with a little lovin' sand em down, clean the groves with a brush and iol em down good and you will be amazed with the way they will look. just work out all the grey. Periodic oiling is the key to keeping them looking good. i do it after about every five times they get wet. just the iol part. and mine look like new all the time.

I agree, I'm keeping with the current platforms I have.

I problem now is, where do I find new stock to finish out the port platform.
As you can see from the picture it is missing the final cross board.
I looked thru Homedepot, couldn't find any. Asked thier "trim" guys & they had no clue if they carried teak or not.

Anyone have suggestions on where to find some replacement stock so that I can finish this port side platform?
