Clearcoat chipping
I have an 87 stratos, the gelcoat still looks good, but the clearcoat is chipping and peeling really bad. I'm looking for the proper grit sandpaper to use to remove the clear and prep the surface for new clear........HELP

Generally, gel-coat is not sprayed over with clear-coat paint. The only time that is doen is if the gel-coat won't come back to life and most of the time it is re-painted rather than just clear-coated over. (unless it's a metal flake)
But to answer your question.... use 320 to carefully take what's left of the clearcoat off an finish with 600. then you should be ready to spray new clear-coat"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors". Plato .
