I had the first '84 around here anywhere, which of course had that new dash in it. People would come by the shop and ask to see it lit up because it was so cool and unusual back then. I put that car up on a lift with the wheels off the ground and ran it in gear to some insane speed on the speedo and took a picture. I think it was something like 260 or 280. Buddy at Chevy store said it wouldn't do it because of some electronic control that shut fuel off, but mine would with no load on it. I should've blown the picture up into a poster.......... one of the coolest dashes of all times.

Post us another picture showing the the odometer.

To this day that dash remains my all-time favorite. I suppose it's because of the reaction I had when I first saw my cousin's then-new '84 - he was one of the first people to get one (in late '83) on Long Island. I was in elementary school at the time, which of course made that car seem like the coolest thing in the world to me. Miner is an '89, which as you know, is the last year of the all-digital dash readout. I know it's considered goofy now, but I still think it's very cool.

This is the NY inspection sticker that's on the car now. That's the last time it's been registered:

Just a quick update: Tried starting the car tonight, no-go. I'll start troubleshooting tomorrow, but I'm afraid the injectors might be bad from many years of sitting.

You start driving it and you're going to blow parts all over Florida. Not my favorite year but she is clean Put it back in the garage before you cost yourself a lot of time, money and aggravation.
