I know a guy in Otown that had one in his back yard for years. It rotted away and he used it for firewood. It was a picklefork around 75-78 vintage? may have a pic of it somewhere.

The tunnels would fly on the straights, and dump you on your head in the turns. They were pretty well out of favor by the early 70's.

The McCall "pickle fork" concept did fall out of favor around 71 or 72. John began building decked over tunnel boats in 72. The one in the attachment was popular for a while, and unlike the "pickle" it would turn pretty good.

Our SJ boat, built by John in the fall of 1974,turned and ran very well. We had a lot of success in local races and did OK in the bigger venues.John was a genius, ahead of his time, and Carl K recognized that as well. He died too young. RIP,John.

Here you go C 1976 with Twins raced this boat in Hawaii for about 2 years. Bought it from Dave Packer. The wood hull did not hold up well in the Hawaiian Climate, but it sure was a fun ride.Click image for larger version.

Where did you get the pic of the SE class boat bottom center? I bought that boat in 1968 from a local Evinrude dealer. He had John build it to run a 49 in 3 cyl OMC but never rigged it. I put my 44 in 500 on it but it just would not carry my 175 lb. weight. We raced it through summer of 68 with not much success. The only way we could get to run competitive speeds was to put my 110 lb. wife in it. I was unable to convince her to race it so we traded it back to John McCall for our much more competitive v-bottom boat. I think I have the original prints of several pictures of that boat including that shot.Click image for larger version.
